Alley has been adored for the last 6 years by her owner, who is now moving back to the United States. Unfortunately (and much to his distress), he can't afford the cost of moving Alley back home with him, so she's come to us to find a new home.

To help us find the right home for Alley, her owner has written this about her:

A real talker and affectionate little lady.

Meet Alley.  Found as a kitten in Wanaka at Christmas in 1999, she is a kind and loving little person.  She talks with you, and at you of course, but mostly she likes to sit next to you and be petted (and purr).

At night she will initially go to sleep either between your legs or on your tummy.  If you roll over onto your side she will shift to whichever hip is facing up.

If you move again she will curl up at the foot of the bed.  On cold winters nights she might climb under the sheets with you until she is warm enough to go back onto the top of the covers to face the world once again.

When sitting down you can walk up behind her and scratch, gently, the top of her head and she will respond by raising her head a little and letting out a small, perfect, “meow” and then go back to watching the world go by or to run off and chase something – usually imaginary.

She does, however, like to catch her mice and, though rare, the occasional bird.  She has pretty much learned that birds are too fast and so just concentrates on the mice.

She hates loud noises and a sudden loud one will scare her very much and you will need to offer a word or two of reassurance.  Usually I just say, “It’s okay Alley, Daddy’s here.”  And that seems to quiet her down and allay her fears and concerns.  Loud noise includes windy days with things blowing around.  She’ll come running inside on days like that.

She’s the only feline person whom I have been allowed to shared my life with who does not mind, too much, if you stroke her tail.

She does not bite or hiss but will, as all cats do, get annoyed if you try and pet her whilst she is cleaning herself.

Oh yes, two more things.  If you are at the right height and she is in the mood she will rub her nose against yours to give you a “kiss”.  And secondly, if you have been sitting in a chair (she likes the one at my computer desk) and get up from there, or from the couch, and the seat is nice and warm don’t be surprised if she’s there when you come back to sit down!

I’m sure you will come to love her (almost as much as I do.).

Thanks.
