The Cats Protection League (Wgtn) Inc. was founded in 1982 by Catherine de la Roche, and was amongst the first purely voluntary New Zealand charities devoted solely to the welfare of cats.
- To take in displaced or unwanted cats and kittens and rehome them where possible.
- To inform the public on the care of cats and kittens.
- To encourage the neutering of all cats not required for breeding.
Who we are
The Wellington Cats Protection League is a registered charity run by our cat loving members and volunteers. We have a shelter in Kingston where we look after up to 50 cats at any one time who, for various reasons, are in need of new loving homes.
We also have healthy, well socialised kittens available for adoption - almost all year round.
Our Wellington shelter is located at 29 Vancouver Street in Kingston. We're open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays between 12 and 4pm - no need to make an appointment, just head on up and meet our wonderful cats. If you're not able to come and visit us during the hours we're open, get in touch and we can arrange for someone to meet you there at a different time.
