At our shelter in Kingston, Wellington, we care for up to 50 cats, all in need of loving new homes.
- To take in displaced or unwanted cats and rehome them where possible
- To inform the public on the care of cats
- To encourage the desexing of all cats not required for breeding
Who we are
The Wellington Cats Protection League is a registered charity run by our cat-loving members and volunteers.
Our Wellington shelter is at 29 Vancouver Street in Kingston. We're open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays between 12 and 4 pm - no need to make an appointment, just head on up and meet our wonderful cats. If you're not able to come and visit us during these hours, get in touch and we can arrange for someone to meet you there at a different time.
If you're looking to adopt, an adoption fee of $80 applies (or $120 for a pair). All our cats have been vet checked, flead, wormed, vaccinated, desexed and microchipped.
All our cats are homed from the Kingston shelter so we can ensure the right home for a cat, follow up for the first few weeks after the cat is adopted, and keep in touch with the new owners or owners, should they wish it. CPL does not have any association with pet shops for rehoming cats.
CPL does not have any kittens or cats under 6 months old as we're currently not in a position to take them in, although this is part of our future planning.
