There are lots of cats to look at and your selection should be given enough time. You may be making a 10 to 20 year commitment when you take your new pet home. Time spent in choosing is very important.

Talk with the CPL staff about the temperament of the animal you are interested in. The CPL wants to make sure that cats will be going to good homes, and that they are well matched to their new owners.

If you wish to adopt, you will be asked to fill out a Questionnaire and Agreement. These are necessary to ensure, as far as it is possible to do so, a happy future for any cat or kitten for which a home is found by the CPL.

Questionnaire
  • Is there a garden?
  • Is it a reasonably safe area/road?
  • Have you any young children?
  • Are there any other cats or dogs?
  • Is someone at home at least part of every day?
  • Will you keep the cat in at night?
  • Will you promise to have the kitten neutered?
  • Will you promise to give strict attention to feeding, grooming and veterinary care, when required?
Agreement

I promise

  1. To accept the cat/kitten for a trial period and if for any reason I cannot keep it, I will return it to CPL and not give it to any other person without written permission from the CPL.
  2. To give strict attention to feeding, grooming and veterinary care when necessary.
  3. To allow any authorised CPL representative to see the cat/kitten at any reasonable time, and to inform the CPL if any misfortune should befall it.
  4. To have the kitten neutered by a qualified Veterinary Surgeon, and to inform the CPL when this has been done.

I agree to surrender the cat/kitten to CPL if I do not carry out my promises.
