Why a cat?

  • cats are quiet and gentle
  • they can get their exercise in a small area
  • they are easily litter box trainable
  • they adapt to owner schedules
  • they require little grooming

Kitten or Cat?

  • Age isn’t very important in cats, as most kittens will use a litter box with little training. The advantage of choosing an adult cat (one year or older) is that its personality is normally developed. The cuddly kitten could become an aloof cat.

Can I afford a cat? Costs include:

  • food
  • general pet care supplies
  • annual innoculations
  • the occasional vet fee
  • boarding costs if you travel

Are you allowed a cat?

  • Does your landlord allow pets? Is your place big enough?

Do you have time for a cat?

  • Cats need daily love and attention. They need to be fed, stroked, cuddled and talked to.

Do you have patience?

  • Sometimes cats will take a while to adjust to new surroundings. You may need to be patient.
